In business since 2001, kmG Hauling is more than just a waste and recycling company. Founder and President, Hugo Garcia, and his father, CEO Aurelio Garcia, are community activists who see their vehicle fleet as canvases to inspire the community.
If you live in Northern Virginia or the D.C. area, you may have seen one of their trucks painted with vibrant colors, designs, and messages to raise awareness around causes such as child autism, fighting cancer, or the support of our military. “Years ago, we started painting them with flames. But, then we saw an opportunity to bring awareness to the community with our trucks -- which are like rolling billboards,” says Hugo.
Like many businesses in early 2020, they were affected by the start of the pandemic and needed assistance. They chose to come to us, specifically our Market President and Commercial Group Manager, David Leudemann, to help them navigate the SBA (Small Business Administration) Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) process. “David and Atlantic Union Bank were more knowledgeable than any other bank that we spoke with,” recalls Hugo. “We knew they could get the job done for us. With patience and respect, David guided us through the process and helped kmG through a rough patch.”
Now kmG does all of their banking with Atlantic Union Bank, including some financing for new trucks for their fleet.
Atlantic Union Bank is proud to have recently supported many Virginia businesses through recent challenges as a preferred lender in the SBA PPP program. For clients like kmG, we’re glad to help. “Atlantic Union Bank has gone the extra mile for us,” says Hugo. “We are grateful for their commitment and guidance.”
