Bio

My banking career started by accident with a summer job at United Virginia Bank (now Truist) in my hometown of Radford, VA. After earning my Bachelor of Science in Business from Virginia Tech, I had the good fortune of being hired into the commercial training program at Wachovia Bank & Trust in Winston-Salem, NC. I later earned my MBA from The College of William and Mary.

Over the years, my career has taken me coast to coast, living and working in every time zone in the continental U.S. Before joining Atlantic Union Bank, I served as President and CEO of First National Bank of Santa Fe, a multi-state bank operating in New Mexico and Colorado. Prior to that, I was Senior Executive Vice President and Head of the Business Services Group at Regions Financial Corporation. I also spent 17 years earlier in my career at Bank of America, ultimately serving as the Pacific Northwest Region Executive for Business Banking in Seattle, WA. Now, with over 35 years of experience in banking, I am proud to wear the title of Chief Executive Officer of Atlantic Union Bank, a role I’ve held since 2017.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been the opportunity to help shape and grow Atlantic Union Bank into Virginia’s largest regional bank. It has been an incredible journey to help build an organization that truly makes a difference for our Teammates, customers, communities and shareholders. Banking may not have been my original plan, but it has given me the opportunity to lead, grow and give back in ways I never expected.

Beyond my work at the bank, I am deeply committed to serving my industry and community. I currently serve as Chair of the American Bankers Association as well as Virginia Learns, and have previously chaired both the Mid-Size Bank Coalition of America and the Virginia Bankers Association. I also sit on several nonprofit boards, including the Virginia Port Authority and the Greater Richmond Partnership, a regional economic development organization.

I am honored to have been named to the Virginia 500 Power List multiple times and am proud of the work we continue to do at Atlantic Union Bank. Outside of work, my wife and I enjoy traveling, experiencing the arts and embracing new adventures. I also like to stay active and regularly exercise to manage stress and stay fit.

Looking back on my career, I’m most proud of helping to build a bank that puts people first—supporting customers, empowering Teammates and strengthening the communities we call home. That commitment to service is what drives me every day, and it’s what will continue to shape the future of Atlantic Union Bank. It’s all about the people — it's always all about the people.
