The James Madison University Dukes basketball team will have a have new home for the 2020-2021 season: The Atlantic Union Bank Center.
When the new Atlantic Union Bank Center opens this fall, it will be more than a wonderful new place to take in JMU's men's and women's basketball games and attend graduation ceremonies for the university and local high schools. It will also be a magnet for conventions, concerts and other special events. And that means more economic opportunity and growth for the businesses of Harrisonburg and the Shenandoah Valley.
Construction crews recently enclosed the roof of the seating bowl, and the majority of the rooms within the building have been framed. The adjacent 1,500-vehicle parking deck opened for campus use this past August.
At the end of the day, it's not our name on the door that's important. It's the many opportunities this facility makes possible for the students, families and businesses in our area.
